This seminar will introduce the audience to a revolution in removable prosthodontics. Avadent is an entirely new concept in the fabrication of complete dentures, single dentures, or dentures over implants and shortly immediate upper dentures. The present techniques require approximately five patient visits plus adjustment appointments. Avadent requires only two patient visits plus adjustments. The first visit for impressions / records, and then the second for delivery. One or two short adjustment appointments may also be necessary. In this technique the maxillary and mandibular impressions are made using thermoplastic trays. An anatomical measuring device (AMD) is used to gather the vertical dimension of occlusion, centric relation and the anterior esthetic zone information. The impression and AMD with prescription are sent to the fabricating facility where they are scanned and transmitted into a computer. The computer than controls a five axis mill which mills the denture base from a specially processed PMM puck. The denture teeth are bonded to the base and finished. This changes the dentures forever.
