Crown Lengthening Procedure – Hands on Program

Crown lengthening is one of the most common surgical procedure in a periodontal practice. This procedure is performed to achieve different goals. It can provide access to the existing restoration margins and or provide adequate ferrule for the planned restoration by establish a new biological width. It also is performed to improve aesthetics. Understanding the biological concepts and anatomical limitations will help the clinician in the appropriate case selection and treatment plan. In the hands on exercise, we practice the surgical principles applicable to this procedure.
- To review the case selection and case assessment process.
- To review and understand the biological width concept .
- To review and practice the basic surgical techniques in the hands on component.
NOTE: Please bring your loupes. All other course materials will be provided.

Dr. Bahrami completed her Periodontology Specialty Training at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto in 2012.
She is a board-certified periodontist both in Canada and US. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada (RCDC) as well as Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and the International Congress of Implantologists.
Dr. Bahrami is part time Clinical Instructor at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto.
