Effective Strategies for Wound Closure of Delicate Oral Tissues - Hands on Program

User Ratings - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★

Course Description

The closure of a wound is fundamentally important in providing a predictable and positive treatment outcome after any dental surgery.  No where is this more critical however than with delicate periodontal and implant surgery.  Major advances in wound approximation and techniques used to stabilize a wound have been made in recent years.  This course will review the current strategies employed and instruments utilized during routine soft tissue surgery.

The objective of this small group hands-on course is to review current suturing techniques used during implant surgery.   Using a variety of practical exercises, this course will explore the differences between a macrosurgical vs microsurgical approach as well as different suture types.

Course attendees are to bring with them their usual armamentarium used when suturing a wound.  This should include typical sutures, needle driver, tissue forcep, scissors and loupes or other magnification.

Dr. Peter Fritz is a certified specialist in Periodontics and is in full-time private practice in Fonthill, Ontario.
