Course Description

The human genome was first completely described in 2006 at a cost of $1.2 billion. Genomics has since become the most rapidly evolving and significant advancement in understanding human development, behaviour and health. Genomics facilitates personalized, rather than traditional, population based medicine. Your genomic identity codes for a wealth of actionable, lifestyle relevant information such as the risk of developing chronic conditions, biological responses to certain medical therapies, prescription drugs, and even certain foods and exercises. Working with information at the single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) and copy number variation (CNV) level provides the information necessary for a completely personalized preventive health care strategy.
