3 CE Credits Course Description: The regeneration of tooth-supporting structures which have been lost as a consequence of periodontal diseas...More details
Perhaps no other field of dentistry has undergone as much growth in the past 2 decades than implantology. Dental implant therapy is considered to be the most predictable and successful means of replacing lost teeth. However, with the increasing number of patients being treated with dental implants, complications such as peri-implantitis have also been reported with higher incidence. What is a clinician to do when faced with the challenge of diagnosing and treating peri-implant mucosal inflammation and bone loss? This presentation will review the current concepts on the diagnosis of peri-implantitis and various treatment strategies which have been discussed in the literature. Emphasis will be placed on the prevention of peri-implantitis and proper maintenance protocols for implant patients. Although there is a lot that we don’t know, this presentation will make clear what we do know and how we can apply this knowledge for the betterment of our patients!
