User Ratings -

Course Description

The term periodontal plastic surgery was established to broaden the scope of periodontal surgical treatment which was previously referred to as mucogingival surgery. The new term encompasses a much broader definition which more accurately reflects the current evolution in surgical techniques which enhances the function and aesthetics of the periodontal and peri-implant tissues. This includes the treatment of gingival recession through soft tissue grafting techniques. This lecture will discuss a number of classic and contemporary techniques for gingival augmentation with a focus on understanding the scope, predictability, and indications for treating gingival recession and mucogingival defects.

Course Objectives:

·         To highlight biological and anatomic basis of soft tissue grafting

·         To review the literature surrounding various soft tissue grafting procedures

·         To review the indications for various techniques including optimal case selection to maximize success
