Course Description

Interdisciplinary treatment planning in dentistry should be given priority as early as possible because of the prime importance of diagnosis. This presentation will greatly elaborate on this topic and devotes considerable attention in the diagnostic phase. It is critical to note that computation and processing of the data into each treatment sequence is multidisciplinary in nature and involves several specialties either directly or indirectly. In this fashion the clinician becomes acutely aware of the fine correlations between tooth anatomy, size, position, gingival levels, occlusal status, implant placement, periodontal conditions and the over all facial appearance in relationship to the “dento-alveolo-gingival complex”, this helps to create a foundation when a diverse fixed or removable prosthodontic rehabilitation is needed.

Day One:  Presentation:

•    The discipline of establishing a sound rationale for each and every step one plans to take in treatment plan with critical analysis of diagnostics to establish an ideal treatment planning using case based scenarios.
•    The understanding that every case should be approached as if the clinician has never treatment planned or treated a case.
•    To review the guidelines of treatment planning to differentiate normal anatomical architecture as compared to deviation from normal.
•    To make a judgment upon clinician’s experience when to involve other specialists to provide the best possible tx for our patients.
•    Advancements and usage of newer technologies for diagnosis and treatment planning.

Day Two:  Hands-On format: (Limited Space Program)

•    Five simple to complex cases will be discussed based upon the diagnostic tools provided to every participant A). Odontogram, B) FMX, C) Panorex, D) CT Scans, D) Mounted Diagnostic Casts, E) Photographs.
•    Cases will be critically evaluated to fabricate different treatment options in each situation in some cases the final treatment outcome will be shown in a presentation format.
