The resin bonded prosthesis was introduced to clinical dentistry in the late 1970s and made use of our abilities to bond resins to tooth structure. With the evolution of new materials, predictable bonding methods and fabrication techniques, this type of fixed restoration has become a very predictable prosthesis for replacement of missing teeth in both the posterior and anterior sections of the dentition. Proper preparation, fabrication and cementation are keys to the success of this restoration and will be discussed in this presentation. Newer more esthetic materials will also be evaluated for their potential use and longevity in the resin bonded bridge application.
