Restoring the Edentulous Patient with Dental Implants

User Ratings -

Course Description

Fixed or removable?  Zirconia or denture teeth?  How many implants?  All on 4 or 6?  Bar or individual locators? What pitfalls should I watch for? Immediate or delayed loading?

Forty years ago, Dr. Branemark introduced to us “osseointegration”, a way to restore the edentulous mandible with a fixed restoration using six implants. Since then numerous developments occurred, many changes have been made and several protocols are now available when restoring both mandible and maxilla with dental implants. However all these choices, from the simple two-implant overdenture to the most sophisticated full arch implant ceramic restorations, present a challenge to today’s clinician not only from the clinical but also from the treatment planning perspective.

This course will summarize the factors that influence the decision on what type of prosthesis should be planned for each specific patient. Several clinical examples both fixed and removable will be presented, and outcomes will be discussed.

Finally suggestions will be made on how each individual clinician can create protocols specific to their practice and patients in order to be able to treat successfully the edentulous patient with dental implants.

In addition, he joined the faculty and became a full time clinical instructor at the same institution until 1986 when he relocated to California and dedicated himself into his private practice.
