Course Description

CAD/CAM dentistry is not new, with a history spanning nearly 35 years. In recent years, it has it progressed to the point of being efficient, and able to address the varied indications of the restorative practice. The exceptional growth in computer technology and material sciences now offer clinicians the ability to create durable and esthetic crowns, inlay/onlays, bridges and implant restorations, all chairside in a single-visit.

This lecture will consider whether clinical studies support the longevity and quality of chairside restorations, and if these can match lab fabricated equivalents. It will also review the benefits and challenges of integrating CAD/CAM dentistry into a busy or growing practice. An overview of the workflow and factors to consider will guide the participant through how to evaluate whether a CAD/CAM system may be worth the investment.

Course Objectives:

1. Review the history and clinical studies of CAD/CAM dentistry.

         2. To explore the benefits and challenges with introducing CAD/CAM dentistry into your practice.

         3. Provide and overview of the workflow for cases using CAD/CAM dentistry.
